The Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program (KDSAP) was founded in 2008 at Harvard University by Dr. Li-Li Hsiao. It is a student-run organization with two main objectives that looks to provide health care to underrepresented populations and developing students' career interest in medicine.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a major health problem in the United States, affecting over 20 millions adults. According to the Center for Disease Control, CKD is the 9th leading cause of death in the United States. Our goal is to fight this disease using preventative medicine and education according to the following objectives:

1) Provide free health screenings for underrepresented populations to identify individuals at risk for chronic kidney disease.

2) Raise public awareness about the prevalence of chronic kidney disease and advocate for preventative medicine for those who need it.

3) Foster mentor-mentee relationships between students and medical professionals

4) Offer students that opportunity to explore nephrology, develop leadership skills, and give back to the community
